This wasn't Jamie McDonald's first adventure, but it was his first adventure across Canada, coast to coast. In February, 2014, McDonald was the first person in history to run from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast without the aid of a support crew.

McDonald is an adventurer from England, but found his way to our home and native land Canada. However, McDonald's adventure started as a young boy. He had a rare spinal condition known as syringomyelia where he spent the first 9 years of his life in and out of hospital. After being treated at a the Children's Hospital in London he was on his way to recovery. But, it instilled the importance of the Children's Hospital that carried through with him his whole life. In turn, giving back to the hospitals that helped him.

Under his belt is a plaque that reads, "On this spot between 8th and 20th December 2012 JAMIE MCDONALD from Gloucester set a new Guinness World Record for Marathon Static Cycling Time: 268 hours, 32 minutes, 48 seconds. McDonald cycled 14,000 miles from Bangkok to his hometown Gloucester raising money for the children's ward of Gloucester Royal Hospital.

So what's next? A wee run across Canada. I asked him why he didn't run across England, he replied, "It would be a stroll across a park." Canada is a huge country and it was going to be an adventure he wouldn't forget... oh and he did it in a superhero costume. I love it.
