Cuddle Party

Feeling a little blue?  How about a "Cuddle Party"?  Rovena Skye is a Calgary Cuddle Facilitator and says "The world needs more love, connection and kindness!"  I couldn't agree more.

Val Fortney, writer for the Calgary Herald had an opportunity to experience a Cuddle Party.  Read her story here http://bit.ly/XLGsLQ

I think this is a fantastic idea.  It might be strange at first to share those moments with a stranger, but the world craves touch.  We are, after all, social beings and we require a certain degree of contact with other human beings.  If we can't fill these voids, we become lonely and empty.

Although there are several ways to receive this affection we so desire, sometimes we don't have an opportunity to fullfil this need.  That can be due to circumstances in life.  Perhaps you're away at school, far from your loved ones.  Maybe a job has taken you from your loved ones for a long period of time.  Or, you're just too busy.  We as human beings need a certain amount of contact and interaction at all times.  It can be a hug, a kiss or just a phone call to let you know how much you are appreciated.

Now before you say "ew"... know that there are rules you have to follow to be a part of the cuddle party group.  And there has been scientific studies on how love and affection can positively affect your health!  The answer is Oxytocin.  Ocytocin is a hormone and neurotransmitter.  It also goes by the nickenames like "the bonding hormone," "the cuddle hormone," and even "the love hormone".  And who says they don't need any of those things!

In actual fact, the cuddle party theme has been around for almost 10 years.  It started in New York City and has since spread to other major cities in the US, Canada, Europ and Austrailia.  You can find a Cuddle Party near you online at http://www.cuddleparty.com and tap into your affectionate side.
